We gave this former detail-less bungalow a "Craftsman Style" makeover with the addition of a second floor and full front porch. As the first house on the block to be adding a second story particular attention was paid to maintaining an appearance of small scale. The existing T&Gexterior siding was retained for the base while shingle siding was added above. The front bedroom with a cathedral ceiling was kept lower than the roof over the rear bedrooms. Bringing natural light into the interior second floor hall brought the added benefit of a view to the hills as you descend. The ownershad the contractor complete the exterior shell, electing to do the interior finish work themselves, to keep costs down.
